Students have been in a fury of wonder since the car crash involving Brandon Young, Tanner Williford and Thomas Allen Friday, May 16.

Two of the boys involved were former students, and members of the alpha class.

“The driver and two passengers, all males under the age of 22, were thrown as much as 20 feet from the car. Two died at the scene, and another was taken to a nearby hospital,” Fox News said.

The Murphy Police released an official statement about the crash on FM 544 and Brand Road Wednesday, May 21.

“Officers of the Murphy Police Department have arrested Aaron N Hunter. The arrest was made

without incident,” the press release from The City of Murphy stated.

The arrested is a Wylie resident, and went to Wylie High School. Hunter, 21, will be charged with three felonies.

“The judge also set the bonds for the charges. Hunter was charged with two counts of ‘Criminal Negligent Homicide,’ both state jail felonies, with each count carrying a $35,000 bond,” according to The City of Murphy press release.

Rumors spread on Twitter and Facebook that this accident was a hit and run.

“As a point of emphasis, at this stage in the investigation, there is no evidence to support the belief that the vehicle driven by Hunter made contact with the Williford vehicle,” according to the press release,

The rumors of a collision were quickly put to an end when the city released this press release.

“It has been determined that the incident began as a ‘road rage’ episode in Wylie,” the press release stated.

According to the City of Murphy, the vehicles were traveling westbound, weaving through traffic, at speeds exceeding the posted speed limit and in a reckless manner as they approached Brand. Both vehicles attempted to pass one another and occupy the same lane.

Former Raider Brandon Young is currently listed in serious condition, according to the press release, but is improving.

Senior Megan White, a friend of Young’s, visited him in the hospital to check on his condition.

“He is doing so well,” White said. “He wants everyone to stay strong for him and to be strong for Thomas. He is such a blessing and he has such a great mindset.”
