Emily Hartegan, surrounded by her family and close friends, signed a basketball scholarship to Metropolitan State University Monday, May 19.

She was offered a full ride scholarship to play forward for the Roadrunners.

“I’m excited to go. I think it’s a great fit for me,” Hartegan said.

Metropolitan State University is located in Denver, Colorado.

“It’s beautiful out there and has lots of things to do for fun,” Hartegan said.

Hartegan plans to focus on more than just athletics.

“I plan on majoring in criminal justice,” Hartegan said.

Hartegan has played on varsity all four years of her high school career.

“She has made first team all-district all four years,” varsity coach Lance Edge said.

All of Hartegan’s former coaches attended the signing.

“I’m glad I got to see all my old coaches and have the team together again,” Hartegan said.
