AP Testing—Are you ready?

Students around campus are gearing up to take tests that will allow them to earn college credit. With teachers reviewing and students studying, the Advanced Placement test preparation is kicking off.

AP testing is coming up in the first few weeks of May and teachers are already beginning to review and get their students ready for the big day.

“I feel like because I had to teach myself the material over the summer. I know firsthand what it takes to make a five and because I have that knowledge, I feel that I know exactly how these kids need to be prepared for the test,” Mr. Peri, the AP Chemistry teacher, said.

If a student is able to make a three or higher, the AP test will account for that specific course in college. However, the score replacement will be different based upon the college.

“The AP test is valuable, because not only does it prepare you for the college setting, but if you are able to pass it, it can save you thousands of dollars,” Mrs. Lindsay, the AP English IV teacher said.

Many students around campus have signed up to take this $51 test in the first two weeks of May. Whether they’re taking English, Science, or any other tests, students are starting to review everything they’ve learned over the year in their AP course.

“We’ve basically been preparing all year,” junior Madison Jennings said. “We take practice multiple choice tests and practice the different types of essays. I feel prepared for the AP test thanks to Mrs. May.”

The students in AP find that taking the class has really prepared them for their future endeavors and taught them valuable life lessons.

“In AP there’s no room for slacking off. It’s either do your work or you fail. In a way, that’s kind of how life works,” senior Carley Rogers said.
